Reputation Partners was engaged to evaluate and address the concerns of this international publicly-traded insurance brokerage and risk management firm’s sales force. Following layoffs, benefit cutbacks, a salary freeze and outsourcing of some functions – all undertaken with admittedly-poor communications – the company was rightly concerned about satisfaction and retention of key field managers. To confirm this, Reputation Partners developed and executed qualitative and quantitative research across managerial levels. Based on these results, we developed a comprehensive education and re-engagement strategy/campaign to repair relationships, build confidence in leadership and prepare managers to be more effective communicators. This included developing a comprehensive communications toolkit and leading a focused discussion and workshop. As a result, senior managers gained better understanding of field managers’ top concerns as well as the knowledge and tools necessary to more effectively address future issues. Field managers reported a clearer understanding of why the various operational changes were necessary and many indicated that the research and the transparency during the workshop went a long way toward strengthening relationships with senior management.
